KING LEOPOLD III CHALLENGE
7, 8 and 9 July 2026
The King Leopold III Challenge is a golf competition organised every two years
since 1958 by the Association Royale de Golfeurs Seniors de Belgique (A.R.G.S.B.).

 

TERMS OF COMPETITION

1. ELIGIBILITY
The King Leopold III Challenge is open to teams of four players. Each country is allowed
to register one or two teams, unless the Committee agrees otherwise.
The players of a team must be of the same nationality, older than 55 years of age during the
calendar year of the competition and have a WHS handicap index of maximum 28,0 at the
time of registration. Players’ WHS handicap index are set on 20 June 2026 and will remain
constant till the end of the competition; if after having been set, a player has a WHS handicap
index higher than 20,0, his playing handicap for the competition will be determined using a
WHS handicap index of 20,0.
The captain of the country delegation is responsible for his team(s) and the correctness of
his player’s WHS handicap indexes. Handicap index certificates or access to the national
websites for assessment of the handicap indexes may be requested.
Each player must be a member of a golf club which is affiliated to his national federation or
golf union, and he must be a member of his senior golf association. If a player wishes to be
part of a team of a different nationality or if a substitute player is designated, the above
conditions still apply.

2. FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION
The competition will be played by teams in Stableford at the Wouwse Plantage Golf Club
(Netherland) and the Royal Antwerp Golf Club (RAGC).
Each team will be composed of two pairs of players (four players) that will be kept
unchanged during the tournament.
The format of the competition and the tees will be as follows:
– 1st day Four-ball at Wouwse Plantage Golf Club –
yellow t. (59) Par 72 CR 72,0 SR 130 ; blue t. (56) Par 72 CR 70,4 SR 130;
– 2nd day Single at Royal Antwerp Golf Club –
yellow t. (58) Par 72 CR 71,0 SR 120 ; blue t. (54) par 72 CR 69,0 SR 116;
– 3rd day Chapman1 at Royal Antwerp Golf Club –
yellow t. (58) Par 72 CR 71,0 SR 120.

3. TEEING AREA’S AND STARTING TIMES
For the first two days of the competition the players may choose to tee-off from the yellow
or the blue tees ; the choice of the tee must be communicated to the organisers at the time

of the registration of the teams (see registration form). For the last day of the competition
(Chapman), all players will start from the yellow tees.
The starting times for the first two days will be drawn up by the Committee and posted on
the official notice board i.e. on the web site of the A.R.G.S.B. (www.argsb.be). The
Committee will ensure that two pairs from the same senior golf association do not play
together.
A shotgun tee-off will be organised for the 3rd day.

4. PLAYING HANDICAPS
The playing handicaps for the Net Stableford competition will be computed as follows :
– 1st day – Four-Ball : each player receives 90% of his course handicap.
– 2nd day – Single : each player receives 100 % of his course handicap.
– 3rd day – Chapman : each side receives the total of 60% of the lowest course handicap
and 40% of the highest course handicap (rounded 0,5 upwards).

5. LOCAL RULES AND PIN POSITIONS

6. TRANSPORTATION POLICY
Motorized transportation for players during the competition are not authorized; electrical
trolleys are authorized. The Committee can authorise players presenting a medical
certificate to use a transportation vehicle conforming to the conditions set down by the
A.R.G.S.B.

7. PRIZES
There will be two rankings: one in Net Stableford and one in Gross Stableford.
For the 1st and 3rd day, all the scores will be retained (2 scores per day); for the 2nd day
(singles) the three best individual scores of each team will be retained (3 scores).
The team who scores the highest total Stableford points (7 scores), either in net or in gross
will be the winner of the Net Stableford competition or the Gross Stableford competition.
The King Leopold III Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the winning team of the Net
Stableford competition and a trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Gross Stableford
competition.
For the team results (three days of the competition) following individual prices will be
awarded to the team members:
– Net Stableford : first best result, second best result, third best result,
– Gross Stableford : first best result.
In case of a tie for the team results, the winner will be decided on the total of the three best
results of the teams in the single competition; in case there is still a tie, the winner will be
decided on the total of the best results of the teams of the last nine, the last six or last three
holes of the single competition.
For the single competition (2nd day of the competition), following prices will be awarded:
– Net Stableford : first best result,
– Gross Stableford : first best result.

In case of a tie for the single competition, the winner will be decided by matching scorecards.
In case a round has to be cancelled, the Challenge and the prices will be awarded to the
best results of the rounds (18 holes) or half the rounds (9 holes) completed by all teams.

8. DRESS CODE
Players are expected to adopt following dress code during the competition.
– On the courses : official play outfit of the team.
– Opening cocktail : official dress of the team, with name badge highly recommended.
– Official diner : official dress of the team, with name badge highly recommended (time
for group photos).
– Closing cocktail : smart casual.
